The movie bores into your heart with a purpose, and as painful as it may be, it’s worth the ache.

Imagine the realityness of The Hills and the motion pictureness of The Devil Wears Prada = The September Issue - this is going to be amazing!

As Toronto’s Entertainment District is under siege from local government and condo developers who greedily eye the large buildings in the area, and as King West becomes boring, while West Queen West loses its cache, the Ossington strip has become the new hotspot for the bohemian, avant-garde, and the hipster.

One of those making Ossington their home base is chef Teo Paul, who recently opened the restaurant Union on this strip. This is Teo’s first restaurant and is a Toronto native, the restaurant is modeled after a place in Paris called Le Petit Fer a Cheval “Little Horseshoe”.

I had the steak frites, amazing for $55.00 for two, we shared a succulent tender cut of beef, served with delicious frites with a sweet but spicy aioli, and steamed bok choy and kael. The atmosphere and service was stealer. I walked by this restaurant and peaked in last weekend when I came out of Baby Huey, just the décor and lighting made it desirable. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will defiantly return, soon!

I must admit my Cold Stone Creamery experience was not as indulgent as Mr. Foodco so adamantly described with passion, I neglected the fact that I am lactose intolerant! Yea, I know. Although the concept is very interesting, I do not see how this fits within Timmy’s business model. It’s sad to say but I call it, that this new venture will not last, just like those McDonald’s Pizza’s I miss dearly. I have inserted a photo for all us to mourn this iconic product that was so brutally discontinued.

Chocolate Ice Cream with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups & Marshmallows at Cold Stone Creamery - Bay & Bloor in Toronto.
Cold Stone is brand new to Toronto.  Everyone I talk to references Marble Slab (the Canadian equivalent?) but growing up in the city I never experienced it because they are all located in the suburbs.  Now it’s become a summer obsession even beating out Dairy Queen (brownie batter blizzard) and soft serve from the truck.  So far I haven’t been very adventurous with mixing different flavours and toppings.  Usually when I’ve found one I like, I stick with it.  The regular - chocolate with chopped up brownie and marshmallow… up until last night when I threw in the peanut butter cups, inspired by Jeff’s coffee and peanut butter combo.  I also enjoy partaking in a sample or two, but I always seem to end up with chocolate.  Today a discussion of flavours with Zach Pearse went down something like this -
Zach - “My favourite is cake batter”
Mark - “I don’t really like cake batter”
Zach - “Well you’re an idiot”
Maybe Zach has a point.  I should probably give it a try…or not.  Who’s up for an ice cream? See you there tomorrow?
Side note - the new jello flavours are odd.  Apparently they don’t melt but return to a jello like substance…

oh and P.S. it’s my birthday on Sunday…they have Cold Stone cakes!

A nostalgic dinning experience at fast food burger joint on the way up north. I reminisce in all the memories of my childhood in this vintage TTC streetcar. Its funny how small things like this can lift a smile and make you laugh.
